Friends Of The Tokoroa Cross

Is a website to share information about the establishment of a large iconic structure as a beacon and a proud landmark that will last for generations looking over the town of Tokoroa.  A Large Christian Cross representing the 18 churches in Tokoroa and which reminds us of the Ten Commandments from which our laws of society have come from today.

Also, the symbol is also the form of the letter "T" which will represent several themes in this district, not the least of which is the name Tokoroa.  It will also represent the industries in the district developed from Trees and representing our local Iwi - the Tangata Whenua, who were here before any Europeans.

This monument will celebrate who we are, and that we are a proud community working together  - many nations brought together in peace and harmony to make this township what it is today.

The website has many aspects to it to update folks of progress and the true meanings behind the many themes representing the many cultures and lives within the District.  You can read of the history and of the progress we are making.

There are many businesses already assisting us with our preparations and offers of free manufacturing and trades assistance with the various engineering disciplines to fabricate and erect this large iconic structure.

Note: the various images depicting the Cross mounted on Trig Hill presume permission has been granted to use this site. This is not so, but it is the Trust's desire to have it located there. Discussions with the lessee and the Council have begun.

Individuals will be able to help too, with pledges and letters of support, feel free to use the appropriate forms to show us you care and support this venture.  These will be online shortly.

Thank you for your time to read this - please browse and learn more about us and this project.
